How to become better developer
I think there is a lot of good articles and resources for getting a job as software developer, but there is few on how to keep your job and advance in your career. That’s why today I am going to share my thoughts on the topic, which are based on my professional experience working as a web developer. I do my best to make my points clear and give you exact instructions and avoid making this article verbose.
Keep learning
Most people significantly reduce their learning pace after getting a job and becoming comfortable on what they do. It is understandable, but you should not give up learning, rather, you should start changing your learning strategy. Instead of watching video lessons, start reading documentations, prioritize your resources so that you learn new skills that you actually need in your job. Understand problems you are facing, and search for their solutions. Moreover communicate with and ask for suggestions from your senior colleagues that have more experience than you.
Be a team player
Every professional workplace values team member more than a worker who just does their tasks. Always have your personal opinion on the subject when working with a team and make them heard. Even if your opinion does not contribute much, you start integrating yourself into a team much better. As you get experienced you start contributing much more on team discussions and strengthen your position as a part of the team.
Understand the whole system
If you are frontend developer, try to learn and understand how backend works, if you are designer, understand how program works and how those designs you made translate into code, I think you got point. Always try to understand how your part of the job integrates with others. It helps you to to communicate with your colleagues much better, and understand their part of the job. It helps you to stay in the center of your team and communicate everyone need much better.
To conclude, knowledge and teamwork plays crucial role in your life to become better developer. The more related skills you acquire the easier it would be to function your workplace.
